PAPERBACK BOOKS???
BookSmart

Wondering if BLURB ever plans to make Paperback Books, they type we read novels and such without photos. LULU offers Paperbacks but I hate messing with PDF files and would rather use Software like Booksmart…problem is Blurb doesn’t do paperback books or at least not this type at low costs (Lulu does them for about $7 a book) .

So are paperbacks in the plan anytime or should I just go ahead with Lulu?

Is that gonna be a shipping solution or is it even possible that Blurb may have a printer in Brazil? Brazil is a huge market (200 Million) and could be a good option…

PS:

The author of the colum got his hands on the book and loved it. The book is also in the Sports Museum in the city of Porto Alegre in Southern Brazil…and the team used some of the images in my book for the teams offcial movie which was recently released.

The article refers to my book which consists of photographs I took from the 2006 Soccer World Championship in Japan. All the Brazilians that purchased the book were very impressed and is a treasure to the fans of the Team that won the Title.

If Blurbs shipping price was cheaper to Brazil I could sell easily hundreds possibly thousands of books there to passionate fan. Problem is shipping is too expensive to Brazil…if Blurb could only figure this out both Blurb and I could make some nice sales down there…considering this book has a market of about 5 Million very passionate people.

Paperback Style Books at Blurb?
General Interest

Absolutely Jack. Text Only Paperbacks would be a great addition..or even Text only with maybe a few pages of images in the middle…either or….

A low cost way to sell BLOG paperbacks or paperback novels would be awesome .

For example I have a Blog that has hundreds upon hundreds of pages and text which would be too expensive on a regular "fancy" blurb book…a simple paperback with paperback like paper with text only would be …GREAT….

Postage - who wants an option to send books via the local postal service
General Interest

USPS Options:

I dont sell thru blurb because of shipping costs overseas. So I order books from blurb to my US address and then send them myself via USPS.

Over the last few months I have learned what works well with USPS.

- Express Mail Flat Rate envelope. Fits up to 3 or 4   7×7 Hardcover books . Has Tracking and $100 insurance included :  COST $25

- Registered Mail: $20 and a very secure way to send. It comes with some insurance but tracking isnt as good as with express mail.

- Priority Mail Flat Rate envelope: Fits 3 or 4   7×7 books. NO INSURANCE and No Tracking : Cost $11

Ive sent may books to Europe and Brazil and the $25 Express Mail has a 100% success rate and usually gets there in 5 to 7 days.

Before I sent Books to Brazil 1st Class for about $10 and it was taking up to 20 Days to get there with no tracking. A Couple of books never arrived. So I switched my shipping options to mostly EXPRESS and REGISTERED. Most my custmers opt for the $25 Express Mail….

But anything higher like those UPS fees of $50 is way too much.

I agree with the original post. I send books to Brazil…insured…express mail Flat envelope for $25 via USPS….that high enough but still chepaer that the $50 they want to send directly from Blurb to Brazil….nobody is gonna pay that…..

For about $15-$20 Blurb can send a Book via USPS with insurance or Registered to any part of the world…I know cause I am personally mailing my books to various parts of the World.

Paperback Style Books at Blurb?
General Interest

Wondering if Blurb will ever offer paperback novel style books with just text and no or few photos…at a low cost.

I know Lulu has it but blurb software makes it much easier to do these things instead of dealing with PDFs , Page Margins and such….

any chance of this happening and have a lowish cost ( below $10 per book) like Lulu?

Just out of curiosity how many books have you sold and at what price?

For me, I have sold over 160,  7×7 hardcover books(none sold thru blurb because my target is very specific overseas crowd..i sell it on my blog) and I usually make about $25- $30 per book. While the $25 Blurb 7×7 cost is nice I still wish it were lower so I could lower my price and sell more. People are paying about $83 per book including ($25) shipping overseas which is hefty but those that can are buying.

I probably would have sold 1000 or more by now if I sold it at cost or slightly above cost but that wouldnt make any finacial sense.

What about you?

Safe to order?
General Interest

Bruce

Ive order over 160 copies of my 7×7 book over the last few months in small increments, with mixed results.

I need to order 85 more but would like to confirm since its been 2 months since my last order that all continues the same and that my 7×7 hard covers will look just like the previous ones. That has been consistent so far and I just want to make sure before placing such a large order. Is everything still being printed in the same place? Same way…

thanks
