Ground shipping to Canada
Ordering and Shipping

The issue is resloved as of a few days ago.  The "International Economy" option is now available for 1-5 book to Canada for US $7.99.

Ground shipping to Canada
Ordering and Shipping

Blurb informs me there is an issue with sending books to Canada and they are trying to sort it out. It seems to be calculating the postage based on weight… which is not supposed to be a factor with the flat-rate option. I can send 1-3 books with no problem, but when I add a fourth or fifth book, the shipping triples Stay tuned.

Ground shipping to Canada
Ordering and Shipping

I am trying to ship five books to Toronto, Canada and also do not see the "International Economy" option that Blurb reports is available for 1-5 book to Canada for US 7.99. From the Blurb Blog:

Now a bit more detail. Flat-rate shipping significantly reduces the shipping costs for customers ordering between 1 to 5 books – using U.S. Ground or International Economy options – as follows:

US: 1 to 5 books = $6.99
Canada: 1 to 5 books = $7.99 (USD)
Europe: 1 to 5 books = €5.99
UK: 1 to 5 books = ₤3.99
Rest of world: 1 to 5 books = varies per order

BookSmart

If I have two books for sale, are the Sales stats all in one big blob for both books or are they kept separate?

Can't upload book
BookSmart

After trying to upload a dozen times with no luck, I packed up my laptop and travelled to a place where I could use another ISP. It worked fine the first time. Too bad someething has changed with my ISP that is creating this problem.

Can't upload book
BookSmart

Tony, as always thanks for the reply. I have resorted to submitting a helpdesk ticket. I have uploaded my book before with this same ISP with no problems. Nothing has changed on my end as far as anti-virus software or anything else goes. If there is a problem with my ISP it is a new problem, and if that is the case I do not have the tech savvy to take care of that. Perhaps Blurb will be able to assist on that matter.

Thanks again, and cheers,

Daniel

Been trying to upload my book all day with no success. Sometimes I get a message that says "Upload completed with error. Out of sequence chunk." However, nothing at all has been uploaded.

Any ideas?

Linking to my book
BookSmart

Tony,

Yikes! That is bad news indeed. Blurb should consider some way around this! This does not help in marketing a book.

Thanks for the input and URL correction.

Linking to my book
BookSmart

I uploaded my book. I then sent out the url and folks have been buying it (yipee!). http://www.blurb.com/my/book/detail/759764

I have since found a small layout error. Now, if I upload a corrected version of the book will it have a new URL?

Thanks,

Daniel

Best Seller?
BookSmart

My book was tagged as "Best Seller" today. What qualifies a book as a best seller?

HELP: ImageWrap Cover
BookSmart

Tony,

Thank you. Now that is clear. The confusion comes in the terminolgy that Blurb uses, I think. When they say to set the image back from the edge, I took it to me just that... I moved the entire image one inch from the edges of the book, leaving a border. However, what you have said is clear.

Thanks again,

Daniel

HELP: ImageWrap Cover
BookSmart

Yes, the book is private at the moment, unil I am ready to announce the sale, which I can’t do until I get  grasp on the cover thing. So, how do you set an image back from the edges one inch but still have the thumbnail of the book’s cover show the cover as full bleed, as I want it to be? My entire photo is critcal, so the only option I see is to move the photo away from the edges one inch. How can you fill the entire workspace yet have nothing critical within one inch of the edges of the book?

 What am I missing here?

Thanks,

Daniel

HELP: ImageWrap Cover
BookSmart

Looking to chat wth someone who has done ImageWrap covers. I’m stumped on the process. Setting the cover image and text back from the edges does not produce an accurate image of the cover of the book in the thumbnail that gets uploaded to Blurb. The finished copy should show the cover image bleeds to the edges. Any guidance, input, suggestions appreaciated. I want to sell a soft cover and an ImageWrap cover.

Thanks in advance,

Daniel

Help: Moving the text box on the spine of my book
BookSmart

Bebensee,

In the Preview mode the photo appears set back from the edges. It was a full bleed image in my orignal layout. However, Blurb says to move any image or text that you want to appear on the finished book, one inck back from the edge. That is what I did. Now I am stuck with an image that does not represent what the final cover should look like… which is full bleed.

Help: Moving the text box on the spine of my book
BookSmart

Michael,

Thank you kindly for this information. It is most helpful.

Another thing if I may:

I will be posting my book to the Blurb bookstore soon. I will sell it with an ImageWrap cover and a soft cover. The thumbnail that gets posted will show the cover image set back from the edges instead of the way it will actually look once printed… full bleed. Is that correct? And if so, is there a way to get a thumbnail posted that will represent what the cover will actually look like.

 Thank you,

Daniel

I’m trying to move the text box on the spine of my book so that I can prepare it for an ImageWrap cover… one inch back from te edge per Blurb instructions. However, when I try to do this I get a warning saying that the text boxes on the spine are locked and cannot be altered. What now?

ImageWrap cover
Book Design and Imaging

I created a book using a template. I’m not quite clear about the special instructions for converting from a soft cover to am imagewrap cover… the images on the both front and back currently bleed to the edges of the covers. Is this a good thing or a bad thing when creating an imagewrap cover?

It sounds like  I need to shrink the cover images so they are one inch from all edges, and any text needs to be moved an inch from the edge as well?

Uploading the same book more than once
General Interest

Okay, it was established in a previous thread that in order to have your book be available to a buyer with both standard and premium paper, you have to upload the book twice. A terrible way to do this, but seemingly the only way. Blurb, please consider a box that allows the buyer to choose the type of paper, just at they can choose the cover type, so only one upload is necessary. But I digress (sort-of ;))... on to the question:

If I try to upload the book more than once, will it over-ride the existing book since it’s the same tilte/file or  will it change the file name, or will it simply upload the book twice with no changes or issues?

Thanks,

Daniel

Need tips on places to sell my book
Web Features

How are folks selling their books other than through the Blurb bookstore? And what are the logistics… are you buying a bulk amount of books through Blurb then acting as the supplier to Amazon, B&N or whoever? Or can those sellers get your book directly from Blurb (I kinda doubt that, but I need to ask).

 Thanks kindly,

D.

Premium and Standard Paper Options
BookSmart

I’ve been studying the Standard paper and Premium paper options. If I see this right, I have to upload my book TWICE in order to make it available with both kinds of paper… is that correct? It would be much more efficient and easier for the consumer, if there was a box THEY could check that would allow them to choose between the two papers rather than having to load two copies of the book onto Blurb. Or am I missing something? Thanks… D
