Examples of using background graphics and photos
Book Design and Imaging

You have made beautiful pages using photo backgrounds.

I am making my pages for the Blurb book in Mac’s ‘Pages’ application. I have perfect justification, indentation for new paragraphs, line spacing, etc.

I am putting photos in along with text for each page. All of the photos are 300 dpi and sometimes a bit more. I save the page to iPhoto and drag it from there to a Blurb book page. The text looks crisp and the photos look very good.

My question. Do you think the photos will be quality using this process or must they be inserted from iPhoto directly into the book for quality?

Thank you.

Removing borders from a text page with no pictures.
Book Design and Imaging

Thank you kindly for responding in a timely manner. Your method required me to do this several times before all pages, including my text pages, were free of borders. I have two more questions I could not find answers for in my search of the Forum.

1) Can I lock a photo to the photo caption on one page without locking every page in the book?

2) I previewed the ten books picked by the staff. The text in some looked weak, it seemed one letter was darker than another throughout the book. Then I found the book ‘The View Project’ edited by Joyce Tenneson and the printed text was perfect. Was it the font used or method of producing the page, such as designing it in Adobe Photoshop and saving it as a .jpeg and dragging it to the blurb page?

Removing borders from a text page with no pictures.
Book Design and Imaging

I am preparing a Blurb book with lots of text and some pictures. I chose a border for my pictures and checked the square to have the border applied to all pictures in the book. Most of my text pages now have a border as well and I can find no way to remove them.
